Web Hosting and Shared Servers
Business hosting can be very expensive at times, especially for the small but ever and expanding businesses. The whole website presence thing is very important for anything, especially in times when visibility matters. Shared web hosting is known by many names. Some call it shared web hosting to shared servers and even budget web hosting and sometimes personal web hosting. Some of the names used for it imply the cheap rates at which you can get it. That is in comparison to the service with dedicated server. It is about one of those cost effective things which can prove to be crucial for business web hosting.
It is nothing new to web hosting Canada. It serves the same purpose here which it serves anywhere else in the world that is to cut down the cost. This is relatively less expensive as compared to the other services like the ones which offer dedicated hosts but can cost a fortune. Some of the companies offering such service make the customers believe that their best option for business website is to go with such services. It is not true though. You can get a service just as good with shared servers as well.
It does however have its own limitations. The word sharing implies everything that has to do with sharing. One of the biggest drawbacks is that your 'neighbors', with whom you share domain and servers, will be able to view your activities. There are certain 'fences' that the server can erect for you but they have their downside as well. In Canadian web hosting, for example, there is a space limit and anything any 'neighbor' does takes up space. The server can limit the number of email addressed you can register with them but that is really not the point of concern here. Even after limiting the accounts, the server offers plenty more than a thousand or so specialized accounts.
Another short coming is that the customers do not get to choose their operating system. Whatever the server offers, either Windows or Linux, the customer has to accept for they are really not given much of a choice in this regard. Some of the other concerns can be the uptime the server offer and the bandwidth as well. If the service is really not up to the mark then it, kind of, kills the whole web visibility thing. Because a sorry website is as good as no website at all.
